Remember that big announcement I’ve been talking about on Facebook?  (You know, the one everybody assumed was that we were having a baby, haha.) Well, here it is… Casey and I are going on tour! I’ve launched a new workshop called Flashfire Workshops! It is a one day speedlight bootcamp focused on not only mastering...

This is sweet, friend!

Let me know if you have any down time (definition: time spent with no agenda; I know you don’t have that very often, so I took the liberty of defining for you) when you’re in Chicago. Maybe we could all catch up then…

How Much Is A Memory Worth?

(Let me preface this by saying that we QUADRUPLE back up our clients photos!  Even backing up all the files on DVDs and putting them in a fireproof safe.) Recently the hard drive in my MacBook pro crashed.  It completely locked up and I couldn’t even turn the computer on.  I rarely backed up my...

Great post, Brett! So true. I have always said if there was ever a fire… The first thing I would grab are my pictures! (Definetly wedding pictures & scrapbooks first!) I hope your hard drive can be fixed.

Did you at least try to mount the hard drive in a different computer to verify if your data was accessible from it? If it was then a simple copy/paste would have saved you. Otherwise, you could have used free software (like TestDisk) to recover your data, which would have saved you $1700.

On Windows it’s way easier to recover deleted files by just using Recuva (free) but that software isn’t available for Mac. :\

Ya I mounted it from a couple different computers. I recovered small handful of things but nothing significant. Most of the files were corrupt. I sent it to two different places. 1 couldn’t get anything off so they sent it on to the next.

Back To The Blogging Board!

As always, I’m starting a blog post off, apologizing for the lack of blog posts!  This time I actually have a good reason though! Just about a month and a half ago, Casey and I got married!  I now have such a better understanding of my wedding clients.  All the chaos, the planning, the blur...

iPhoneography

Well I’m finally home!  I was gone for about 2 weeks and it felt like 2 months.  When I’m traveling, I rarely take out my SLR (or simply put, my big camera) and prefer to use my iPhone since it is on me all the time.  I just wanted to share a few pictures from...

Opening Doors

I’m constantly amazed at how many opportunities come my way.  I’ve been getting asked to do speaking engagements, teach webinars, be on podcasts, teach workshops, and travel the world.  I’m actually leaving for 2 weeks to go speak at Nations Photo Lab’s cabana at SPA and then right after that I’m headed to Vegas for...
